Since 2011, Bristol North West Foodbank has provided essential support to individuals and families across the local community who are experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship. During this time, the organisation has assisted more than 74,000 people who were referred to the foodbank while facing crisis situations. In addition to providing emergency food support, its broader mission is to reduce hunger, offer advice and guidance that helps improve people's circumstances, and connect individuals with opportunities and services within their local communities.
The charity has identified digital exclusion as a significant barrier to social and economic participation. As access to public services, employment opportunities and education has increasingly moved online, individuals without access to a laptop and phones are at a considerable disadvantage. By receiving donated laptop and phones, they aim to improve digital inclusion, enabling beneficiaries to access job applications, training, and essential online services. This support is intended to enhance pathways into employment or education, strengthen long-term independence, and ultimately reduce reliance on foodbank services.
They received five mobile phones and SIM cards, which will be distributed to individuals in need to support digital inclusion.
